Very much like the two Lochluicharts!

Thank you, Mark - they're favourites of mine as we don't often get fog like that up here.

Stunning. I’ve never been to your part of the world. You’ve captured it beautifully.

Thanks, Eunice - I'm lucky to live somewhere so beautiful.

Hi Lynn! I'm a new subscriber, thanks to PatrickL's photo challenge. I've just read your introduction and loved your story, as well as your pictures that are absolutely stunning.

So, following your kind invitation, I'm Brazilian, but living in Copenhagen at the moment and for the foreseeable future. I move around a lot, sometimes for work reasons, sometimes for personal reasons. And I'm a photo enthusiast too, although lately I have set aside my DSLR a little, and have been taking more phone pics.

Funny story: just like you, I have always loved taking pictures. My first proper photography workshop was in the Isle of Skye (maybe you know Glen, from Lightstalkers Adventures? He used to be based in Inverness, don't know if still there). Anyway, I just had a small automatic camera and there was a snowstorm going on with roadblocks and trains cancelled (December 2010, if that means something to you). Still, we managed to have so much fun, and I fell in love with the Highlands so much in that trip. That was the beginning of a more consistent journey taking pictures.

Hi Pat and welcome! Thank you so much for introducing yourself. I haven't been to either Brazil or Denmark but would love to visit.

I don't know Glen but I'm sure I've heard his name. And, yes, December 2010!!! I remember it well - so much snow!!! Glad you still managed to have fun; the Highlands are incredible whatever the weather.

Thank you! If you come to Copenhagen, do let me know and we can have a coffee, or a walking tour? :)

And if you do decide to go to Brazil, I can come up with a few must-sees, off the beaten path.

Ooh, that all sounds very tempting! Thank you! And likewise if you come back to the Highlands 🙂

Beautiful images of some of my favourite parts of Scotland. I love the west coast, it is definitely my favourite. And coming from the east coast, lowlands of England I always find the west coast really inspiring photographically.

I think you and Mali got some fabulous conditions and your images really capture the magic of the area.

Thanks, Gill. We had an amazing weekend of weather. I had been telling Mali how we don't get much fog here, and then we had fabulous foggy conditions just to prove me wrong, lol. It was pretty windy the day we went out to Mellon Udrigle but the rain stayed away, and then we had sun over at Kinlochewe. Mali is pretty loquacious but Scotland silenced him!

I love that! I enjoy watching Mali on YouTube and listening to his podcasts and I love his enthusiasm, but haven't seen him silenced by the landscape before 😆

Wonderful photos, you have made me want to visit again!

Thanks - if you do come up this way, let me know as it would be lovely to meet in person 🙂

Hi Lynn, I'm a new subscriber. The photos are all beautiful - I love those highland days when the clouds drape themselves heavily over the hills, but the fog gives your Lochliuchart pics a different quality - somehow lighter. Just exquisite. Thanks for sharing them.

I’m editing away as we speak and we have so many images in common, well it was bloody amazing, that’s what I thought of the conditions we caught. Superb sequence / collection of beautiful photography. I was propelled right back to our time a wandering.

Workshop taking longer to bring together but I hope after today’s edits I’m closer.

Fabulous photos as always, Lynn. We have taken many tours of the west over the years. It’s very stunning and dramatic and a photographer’s dream. As someone with a bad reaction to mozzies and a dislike of soggy feet, I live on the east coast though!

Expand full comment

Thank you! I can put up with soggy feet, but I also react badly to midge and mosquito bites 🫠

Expand full comment

Yes, I look like I have bubonic plague if I get nipped by midges or mozzies! You have my sympathy. My husband was born on the west coast and says he has webbed feet!

Wonderful photos. Makes me wanna go visit Scotland again. But first Ireland this summer.

Thanks, Marcel. I hope you have a great trip to Ireland. I’ve only been once, a long time ago, and that was for a long weekend in Dublin.

Beautiful photos Lynn. One of these days I need to make it to Scotland. It looks to be a remarkably rugged and vibrant corner of the globe.

Thanks, Michael. The northwest Highlands look like the this. The east is different. And the other regions are different again. Plenty to choose from!

You live in a beautiful part of the world - and I'm a fan of telegraph poles too! I can imagine Mali was pretty excited by the landscape there, he is so enthusiastic...your workshops together should be good fun for everyone taking part!

It's lovely to hear there are fellow telegraph pole enthusiasts!

Yes, Mali was astounded by the landscape, so much so he was rendered silent for periods of time, lol. We're looking forward to the workshop - come and join us!

I love telegraph poles too ! Gorgeous photos Lynn, you make me pine for Scottish scenery every time!

Have a fabulous weekend… we have a Siberian wind whipping up the valley and leaving by the next carrying all the lovely warmth of the week with it! 😬💛xx

I usually get laughed at for taking pics of telegraph poles, lol

Have a great weekend too. I think we possibly have the same winds 🥶
