Beautiful images, they make me feel at home by the coast. Thank you ❤️.

Such beautiful atmosphere you captured. When i first read the word Littoral i thought you might have taken these photos while you were still in Romania because this is how we call the seashore area in Romanian. The word might have some latin roots.

Thank you, Daniela. Yes, the word has Latin roots. I did notice when I was in Romania how Italian/French conversations sounded at times and learned that your language is based on Latin.

Lynn what a fabulous project to have been invited to take part in! Your photos are sublime!

They always are!

I too have only once produced photographs for anyone else and I completely understand that feeling of overwhelm! My confidence slumped to such a degree I almost called them and said I couldn't do it - that they'd be disappointed! In the end I took over 700 photos, whittled it down to 100 and sent them on a key for their perusal, they chose none of my own favourites but they loved them! It was a nerve wracking experience though.

Thanks, Susie.

I don't know about you but I can feel pretty vulnerable when sharing my work. Handing it over to someone else and thereby losing control added to that feeling. I was anxious about whether my work would be good enough, and then anxious about what would happen to my work once it was out of my control. I had to give myself a good talking to before I got out of the car!

Yup! I had all of those thoughts and concerns too Lynn. It took me three attempts before I could even begin and even then I had sleepless nights, then more when I finally sent a USB key for their choices! I don’t think ill ever say yes again!

Lovely. Wind and weather and the ocean in the leading role. Lovely shots. Well done. Congratulations.

Very cool project (btw, I learnt a new word 😉) and beautiful images — and I applaud you sharing the journey you took to get to the place where you submitted your work. It must’ve been so exciting to hold a book like that in your hands and get to see your own images included. Congrats!!

Yes, it was very exciting, especially as the print quality is so good and the writing by Jeff Young is sublime.

Lynn, I really enjoyed these images, some were simply breathtaking, all wonderful. Like you I've done a few shows, a solo and a few group art shows but it's been a bit since I have. Shows can be costly, as you noted but also extremely rewarding, especially in getting feedback on your work and having in person conversations. This was a lovely photobook project. I can see being a little daunted by shooting new photos for a project like this, one that is not your own.

Wonderful to see you back after a time away...

Thanks, Pamela. It's always enlightening talking to people about your work.

Life got a bit busy and Substack was one of the things that had to give. Feeling my way back into it all 🙂

It’s such a different feeling talking to someone about our work in person. We see their expressions and feel their body language. Not that getting comments and compliments online isn’t wonderful, in person is more intimate. And watching a person walk away with a piece of our work is also a great feeling.

I second all of that. It's a thrill that someone likes our work enough to put it on their wall.

Wonderful images and a wonderful book, I’m still annoyed at myself for not buying one when I could.. I haven’t made the same mistake with Home and I’m slowly working my way through that :)

As one of my boys says ‘You snooze, you lose’, lol. Glad you got a copy of “Home” - I’m working my way through a copy too.

Fabulous images Lynn, I enjoyed your chat with Neale about it on the Photowalk podcast. I remember it clearly, I was staying in Surrey with my mother, walking through the woods, listening and imagining myself back in Scotland! I thought of it again when I visited Scalpay, and Bosta! I’m so pleased you got out of the car on a rainy day:)

Thanks, Sarah. I’m glad I got out of the car too, lol.

Lovely images Lynn and an interesting insight into the project . The book looks really interesting - has it sold out now?

I thought it was interesting to read your comments on confidence and getting started. I find a lot of my projects start like that but once I get going and take a few images I seem to relax into the challenge. Getting started can so often be the hardest part.

Thanks for taking a look, Gill. Yes, the book sold out. We had to reach a minimum number of orders before it went to print, which we did and beyond.

Yes, getting started can be the hardest part of any project - I was watching one of Thomas Heaton’s videos on YouTube yesterday and he was saying exactly that. Get out and something will happen!
