Wonderful story Lynn. 🫣I agree, in all of my journeys with my camera, the lasting impressions always come down to more intimate photos of individual people. Regardless where we travel in this wide wonderful world, it people that define places and provide the memories that sustain us and enrich our lives! Thanks for your wonderful words and pictures.
Oh, oh… guilty! How embarrassing! I fixed it. Regardless of my erroneous attribution, it’s still a wonderfully written story and I admire your skill! 🫣
This is a wonderful post, thank you so much. I never cease to be amazed by your work, you've got such a great eye (and ear), it really comes across in these beautiful portraits. Moments and faces like this are, to be honest, what life is all about. Celebrating difference whilst recognising how we're all the same remarkable species is something incredibly important, essential to our wellbeing. Thanks again for this (and, yes, I am just ridiculously far behind with my reading!).
"But the stories and images I’ve gathered over the years—of women whose lives and strength have left deep impressions on me—are not bound to a single date and nor should they be."
No they shouldn't! and,
"But again and again, I was reminded that connection doesn’t need many words."
A beautiful tribute Lynn, I am envious of your meetings with these amazing ladies...
This is so wonderful, Lynn. I’m slowly catching up with the pieces I have saved … this is such a highlight, and a reminder that we don’t just need specially appointed days (though we also do) to celebrate the incredible lives of women around the world … community builders, preservers of the oral traditions, workers - such hard workers - raisers of families, leaders, innovators … wonderful photography, fabulous storytelling.
Thanks, Barrie - I like to highlight the women because many of the places I've travelled to still have very patriarchal societies or continue with traditions that don't sit comfortably with me. Maybe that's why so many of them stay with me.
Those are absolutely wondrous portraits Lynn. I remember Aisha of course, having been there at the time you made this picture. I think what comes across with your work too, is, when you can and language allows, you take the time to learn a little about people. And that's what this photo thing is all about isn't it? Connecting?
Lovely captures. Wonderful tribute to women everywhere.
Thanks KewtieBird!

I think that Holi powder did something to you, Bill - I'm Lynn 🤣 But thank you anyway 😁

You're forgiven, lol. And I agree, it's the people that define place.

Thanks Pamela!

I’ve rather cheekily popped it into today’s Encouragement Files. I am so sure it will strike a chord with our readers!
I hope so! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
